Groove Monkee MIDI packs are compatible with all versions of EZdrummer by Toontrack, including the new version 3. Our MIDI drum packs are also compatible with Superior Drummer.
In this post, I'll explain how to install our products into EZdrummer 3. First I'll cover the installation process for our Mega Pack. Then I'll discuss two ways you can install an individual pack: manual installation and running our installer.
Note: The fastest and easiest way is discussed in this blog post
Note: if you've already installed our products for EZdrummer 2 or Superior Drummer, you just need to add the existing files to the EZdrummer 3 database. Check out the instructions for either the installer or the manual instructions below (depending on how you performed the installation).
Installing the Mega Pack
We suggest a manual installation for the Mega Pack. While you can use our installer, this method is actually more convenient.
Note: this method installs the files in the 'User MIDI' folder and it seems to be Toontrack's preferred method for 3rd party MIDI. The files will be available in Superior Drummer 3 also.
It's very easy to install our Mega Pack into EZdrummer 3 as shown in the video below. Here are the steps needed to manually install the Mega Pack.
- Extract the Mega Pack zip file
- Open the Mega Pack's 'Other MIDI Mappings' folder
- Extract the 'Mega Pack Toontrack' zip file
- Open the 'Mega Pack Toontrack' folder and copy all of the folders inside
- Open the EZdrummer 3 'Grooves' tab
- Click on the 'User MIDI' tab (lower left)
- Click on 'Open in Finder' (Mac) or 'Open in Explorer' (PC)
- Paste the product folder into the User MIDI folder
- Click 'Sync File Changes' on the 'User MIDI' tab
The files should now be visible in the User MIDI area. The video below demonstrates the steps to follow after extracting the product's zip file.
Please note that copying and adding files to the database takes a bit longer than it seems in the video above. It may take several minutes depending on the speed of your system.
Next, I'll explain what you need to do if you'd like to run our installer.Â
Installing a pack using an installer
Running our installer will copy the files into your 'EZX Libraries' area of the EZdrummer 3 Grooves tab. If you prefer to install them in the 'User MIDI' area, please see the section below.
Installer Info
You'll find the installers inside of the 'Installer' folder of your purchase. Currently, we only support Windows installers. We had to discontinue Mac installers due to the difficulty of working with Apple.
An uninstaller is also available.
Running the installer
- Close Ezdrummer 3
- Extract the product's zip file
- Find the installer for your system (See above)
- Run the installer
- Open EZdrummer 3 and select the Grooves tab
- Click on the product folder (look in the 'EZX Libraries' area)
- Click on 'Add to Database'
The files will be available for immediate use. Please see the video below for a demonstration.
EZdrummer 3 Manual Installation
This section describes the manual installation process. The files will be installed into the EZdrummer 3 'User MIDI' area. If you prefer to install them into the 'EZX Libraries' section, please see the section named 'Installing a pack using an installer'.
