Auditioning MIDI Drum Loops in Cubase 15

Auditioning MIDI Drum Loops in Cubase 15

Posted by Groove Monkee on

In this post, I'll explain how to audition MIDI loops with Cubase 15 using the MediaBay window. You can also watch the companion video below:

Set Up

First, you'll need to add a drum instrument to your project.

1. Go to the project menu and add an Instrument track.

2. Choose an instrument such as Groove Agent SE.

3. Load a drum kit, if necessary.

Browsing for Files

Open the MediaBay window. Go to the Media menu and select MediaBay. Or you can simply press "F5".

Use the browser window on the left side of the MediaBay to find your MIDI files.

You'll find a set of controls near the bottom. These include start, stop and loop controls.

Problem: Empty folders?

Here's what to do if you don't see any MIDI files while browsing. If all of your folders look empty, click the 'folder' button to the right of the location drop down box. It's on the top left side of the MediaBay window. See the image below for the exact location.

Problem: No sound?

Make sure your drum instrument is loaded in the the MediaBay. There's a drop down box on the bottom right side with a list of available instruments.

The image below shows the location of the instrument selection box. Select your drum instrument if necessary.
